What does it mean to be Catholic?
Catholic comes from a Greek word meaning "universal". Being Catholic means that you belong to the Church the Christ founded. The early Christians used a short list called a "creed" to keep in mind what authentic Christianity really was. "I believe in God, the Father Almighty... and in Jesus Christ, his only son, Our Lord..."
The early Church established four things that would identify the "communion" that really was "the Church". The real Christian Church was "one, holy, catholic and apostolic". The Bible, of course, teaches that there is one faith, one body and one baptism.
As much as non-Catholics carry on about Peter not being, himself, "the rock", they always overlook the statement by Christ that he was building "His Church". Yep, you got it. There's only one Church founded by Christ. Now all you have to do is find it. We can help.
