Who Does the Holy
Spirit Guide?
|
Good questions like
these deserve answers that make sense. The problem is, in matters
of religion, people often get ideas in their heads a certain way and
can't easily see other views. In addition, people these days are
quick to equate ideas with the person or group who proposes them.
So where do you start? Christians
start with Jesus, of course. Jesus said and lots of things,
some of which was written down by those who were close to Him.
Others who were not so close to Jesus also wrote letters and within a
few hundred years Christians were unsure which letters and book were
true and which were spurious. To settle the confusion and
maintain unity among Christians, Church leaders met together and
decided which books were authentic and which book were not. How
did they get the authority to make such a momentous decision?
